As a fundraiser for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Jason was not expecting to be airlifted to hospital himself, but he ended up at Leeds General Informary after a near fatal traffic accident in the Yorkshire Dales. 11 months later it was evident he had inciional hernias which required specialist hernia treament and he was referred to Mr Botterill at Spire Leeds.

In 2017 Ian Botterill carried out a bilateral abdominal wall reconstruction and parastomal hernia repair on client Adrian York.

“Without surgery Adrian would have been unable to bend, move or function as much as he needed to as principal carer for his wife,”

A successful surgical outcome led Mr York to state “The day I left hospital was the first time I’d been able to walk properly in almost three years.”
