Hernia clinics

Generally hernia clinic appointments require a face to face consultation.

Assessment involves taking a detailed history, performing a physical examination and reviewing any prior imaging and previous operation notes.

Operative planning is discussed as is any pre-operative care.

The risk /benefit ratio of surgery is discussed as well as any means to improve the outcome of surgery.

Follow up visits, when required, are generally conducted on a face to face basis. Some cases may be suitable for telephone or video consultation, this is especially suitable for patients from distant parts of the UK.
